This panel presentation addresses building successful partnerships across broad sectors including higher education, government, business, non-profits and communities. The Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN) is an innovative partnership between the state's 48 community colleges, businesses and local communities serving as a national model for sustainability and green workforce development in the United States. IGEN was formed in 2008 as a leadership initiative of the college presidents and the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). IGEN began implementing substantial collaborative programs throughout the state. These programs focus on greening college campuses, greening curriculum, greening communities and green workforce development.

This is the second in a series of blog articles highlighting the many excellent case studies AASHE has received to our campus sustainability case study database. Virtually all of the case studies currently in our database have been submitted as part of our annual awards program. Although we can only recognize a few campus submissions as "official winners" for that program, there are many exemplary case studies in the database worthy of recognition and wide dissemination (this is also a reminder to our campus readers to submit to our awards program and database. We know you have great case studies to share!).
