Don’t miss out on your chance to attend this virtual event!

In Oct. 2020, AASHE held its first virtual event – the Global Conference for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (GCSHE). Before 2020, thousands of sustainability leaders had the opportunity to gather annually in cities like Spokane, WA and Pittsburgh, PA and connect in-person. With a global pandemic, a new opportunity was introduced to increase accessibility of our annual event through this virtual format and we’re doing it again in 2021 with the theme “The Future Is…”!

Not sure if you would benefit by attending AASHE’s virtual conference this year? Here are 3 ways we know you will:

1. You will make meaningful connections and hear from incredible sustainability leaders.

AASHE’s GCSHE will help you expand your network of sustainability leaders. Last year’s event saw over 6,800 registrants from more than 400 institutions spanning 36 countries! Connecting with others is one priority of the event through chats, speed networking sessions, match making and more! Students, staff, faculty and business leaders will all benefit by hearing others’ successes and lessons learned in their sustainability work during those sessions.

Not only will you have the chance to learn from your peers, but you will also get to hear from several amazing keynote speakers! Last year’s conference featured keynote speakers such as Wanjiku “Wawa” Gatheru, the founder of Black Girl Environmentalist, who spoke on a panel about the role of students and higher education in a just transition and Ibram X. Kendi, the Director at the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research and #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of How to be an Anti-Racist, who provided a new framework to understand racism and guidance on how to be an antiracist.

2. You will deepen your own perspectives and find motivation to advance sustainability.

The GCSHE is an amazing event to better understand others’ perspectives on sustainability issues and deepen your own. Other attendees and presenters have faced challenges that you might be facing as well or that you might have never experienced. A new perspective can help you find solutions that you wouldn’t have otherwise considered.

Many attendees shared that a favorite part of GCSHE is feeling the impact this global event has on you even in a virtual setting. The lessons offered by keynote speakers and other presenters leave many feeling inspired and motivated to keep fighting for sustainability solutions. If you want to become empowered to fight for a better future, GCSHE is the perfect place to do it!

3. You will learn about real sustainability solutions.

This one might seem obvious, but you are going to learn a lot by attending this conference! With keynotes, webinars and on-demand sessions available to conference registrants until Dec. 31, 2021, you will have plenty of chances to explore educational content on the sustainability topics that mean the most to you.

This is an amazing opportunity to discover sustainability solutions to bring back to your own campus or business. No matter your interest, the GCSHE will provide knowledge, tips and innovative solutions to challenges you face in your specific field. There are opportunities for everyone to gain something at AASHE’s #GCSHE whether you are a student, staff or faculty member or business leader.
