College and University Earth Day Roundup
Campuses all across the U.S. and Canada recently celebrated Earth Day 2008. Some celebrated it with one big single day event, and others celebrated with several smaller events throughout the entire month of April. The Bowdoin College (ME) Earth Day celebration recognized that Earth Day isn't just a day, it's a way of life. It's tempting to want to hold all of your sustainability events on and around Earth Day, but why? Once the events are over, the community might slowly forget the importance of taking care of our planet. I challenge you, this summer, to think about ways your campus can celebrate and appreciate the Earth all year long. Try to think of a way that you can continually remind others that we need to flight climate change, and we need to use less oil, and we need to stop polluting our rivers. We need to take care of the Earth so it can continue to support human life. Each one of you plays a role on your campus -use that role to teach others what you know! Here's a few links to some of the Earth Day news coverage. If your school isn't on the list, I encourage you to add a link, a few words, or even a few paragraphs about your event(s).
