AASHE Passes New Milestones in Time for Earth Day
In one of those nice accidents of timing, AASHE has just passed two major membership milestones as we celebrate Earth Day week:
- We reached a total membership of 1,000, with the receipt of Tompkins Cortland Community College’s membership.
- We now have at least one AASHE member in all 50 U.S. states. South Dakota School of Mines & Technology was the member that “completed the map.” There are also AASHE members in 7 Canadian provinces and 14 different countries.
Here is the breakdown of AASHE’s membership (now at 1,003):
- 554 Four-year and graduate institutions
- 209 Two-year institutions and community colleges
- 16 International affiliate campuses (outside the U.S., Canada, and Mexico)
- 138 Businesses (including 3 Leaders and 10 Supporters)
-
86 NGOs / government agencies / K-12 institutions / system offices

As we celebrate the accomplishments of the rapidly growing campus sustainability movement this week, AASHE’s membership team wants to thank you – faculty, staff, students, administrators, sustainability officers, business leaders, non-profit partners and others at AASHE member institutions and organizations – for your commitment to sustainability and the inspiring work you are doing on behalf of your institutions and the planet.
Don’t forget about your benefits as an AASHE member! Take advantage of member-only discounts on products and services offered by our business members, registration discounts for the AASHE 2010 Conference, the opportunity to be featured as a spotlight member in AASHE Bulletin, and the use of AASHE’s member logo.
We look forward to announcing our 1,500th member soon, and our 800th campus member even sooner (we are only 20 campuses away).
Happy Earth Day!
From the Membership Team: Kyle Kiser, Dustin Pugel, Sam Hummel, Judy Walton
