The Curriculum Colloquium is the premier gathering for faculty from any discipline who are engaged in sustainability education. Taking place on Sunday, Oct. 4, this all-day pre-conference event will focus on pedagogy, content and leadership for sustainability education. It will include a mix of panels, workshops, roundtables and facilitated dialogue and an emphasis on peer-to-peer exchange.
This Colloquium is being jointly organized by AASHE and the Sustainability Curriculum Consortium (SCC). The SCC was established solely to support university-level faculty tasked to teach sustainability topics. SCC aligns its activities around three key themes — Pedagogy, Substantive Content, and Leadership — and offers webinars, online cohorts, workshops and advisory services to faculty and academic programs in sustainability. As an independent not-for-profit, SCC supports and collaborates with AASHE as an AASHE member.
Proposals to present at the Curriculum Colloquium are being accepted through April 30. The organizers invite submissions on full range of issues related to sustainability curriculum, including connecting curriculum to real-world sustainability policy and practices; fundamentals for teaching sustainability; perspectives on competencies and learning outcomes; effective pedagogy, tools and resources for teaching sustainability; change management for curricular change; prospects for certification and accreditation; sustainability program development and evaluation; sustainability course design; applied learning for sustainability; equity and diversity; aligning curriculum with the SDGs; and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Ira Feldman is the Founder and Managing Director of the Sustainability Curriculum Consortium. He has over 25 years of experience as an attorney and consultant focusing on environmental regulatory innovation, strategic environmental management, sustainable business practices and corporate social responsibility.
He has taught on these and related topics at the University of Pennsylvania, City University of New York (CUNY), Fordham University, and George Mason University.
Julian Dautremont is Director of Programs at AASHE. He has played leadership roles in creating the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) as well as the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.
He also has experience working as Chief Sustainability Officer of Alfred State College as Senior Program Manager with GreenerU. Julian is a member of SCC’s Advisory Council.
