AASHE signed a letter in support of the Climate Change Education Title of the America COMPETES Act to the House and Senate. This legislation would help the Office of Education at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to annually provide grants and support to state education agencies (for the benefit of K-12 schools), institutions of higher education, and nonformal education institutions for climate-related instruction. The funding would help increase climate literacy in United States and broaden the understanding of science of climate change by supporting education on the latest technological and scientific approaches to addressing climate change.
