AASHE recently signed a declaration through the Amazon Sacred Headwaters Initiative for advancing permanent protections of a critical region that is one of the birthplaces of the Amazon River which is facing imminent threats from expansion of new fossil fuel, mining, and large-scale industrial development.
The Declaration was also recently released at the Latin American Parks Congress in Peru.
