AASHE recently signed From Single-Use to Systems Change: A Call to Action, a letter calling on relevant bodies to support reusable products and disincentivize continuation of single-use commodities while taking responsibility for the full life cycle costs and impacts of products and packaging and accepting responsibility for harm caused recently and historically by the production and consumption of single-use products, in particular, to indigenous peoples and people of color. The production and disposal of single-use products have negative impacts on the environment and people, so we join together with the Environmental Protection Network, Canopy and Break Free From Plastic to call for an end to single-use.
