On April 11, 2024, Senator Edward J. Markey and Representative Debbie Dingell reintroduced the Climate Change Education Act. This legislation would create a Climate Change Education Program within NOAA to support climate literacy initiatives through grants and technical assistance to educational agencies, higher education institutions, and other groups.  The bill authorizes $50 million per year between fiscal years 2025 and 2030 for this purpose. AASHE, along with other educational and environmental organizations, proudly endorses this bill, recognizing its potential to significantly enhance climate education across the U.S. This act emphasizes the need for integrating climate knowledge into the broader educational framework to prepare students to live, work, and lead in a world increasingly impacted by climate change.
