Last week, AASHE signed on a demand for the Biden administration to commit to honoring the US’ Fair Share in addressing the climate emergency. The US needs to do its fair share in addressing this crisis with equitable and ambitious emissions reductions and a commitment to support less wealthy countries to do the same. Specifically, the administration is asked to commit to achieving a 195% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions below 2005 levels by 2030. This can be accomplished by cutting domestic greenhouse gas emissions and directly supporting developing countries with the financial and technological assistance needed to reduce their emissions beyond what they can or should have to do on their own.

This sign-on is being led by ActionAid USA, Center for Biological Diversity, Climate Equity Reference Project, Corporate Accountability, Friends of the Earth US, and NC Interfaith Power & Light.
