Webinar: Design Thinking for Sustainable Development Education: Practical Toolkit

February 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

The Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design’s Sustainable Development Hub and the School of Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have collaborated to create a Practical Toolkit for Sustainable Development Education. The toolkit is designed to help educators create impactful sustainability modules, such as new courses, in-class projects, and academic programs.

Developed in 2022 through workshops in teacher education departments and faculty change programs, the toolkit combines Design Thinking methods and Education for Sustainable Development principles to provide lecturers with pedagogical guidance, knowledge, and structured visual tools for developing sustainability initiatives. The primary audience is lecturers, but academic leaders can also adapt the toolkit to their needs.

Participants in the webinar will learn to use design-based tools, such as system mapping, to identify the best intervention point, ideation methods, iterative prototyping, and system-thinking for creating value propositions for multiple stakeholders. All the toolkit’s online visual templates will be available through an easy-to-use online platform.

The toolkit makes it easy for educators to develop impactful sustainability modules, creatively enhance their sustainability curriculum, and create real change in their academic communities. With this toolkit, lecturers can play a crucial role in promoting sustainable development and contribute to building a better future for all.
