Call for Proposals Opens with Theme: Stronger in Solidarity
December 13, 2016 (Philadelphia, PA) - The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) is pleased to announce that the 2017 Conference & Expo will be held in San Antonio, TX from October 15 - 18, 2017.
“We’re excited to take our conference to the Southwest and explore sustainability achievements while exchanging ideas in San Antonio, Texas. This city values smart, sustainable growth in an effort to preserve resources and quality of life for many generations to come. As a result, it is the perfect place for us to explore our conference theme, Stronger in Solidarity, ” said AASHE Executive Director Meghan Fay Zahniser.
The results of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election exposed a divided nation that left many groups on campus feeling insecure and concerned for their future. The results also indicate that many voters do not see sustainability as relevant to their concerns and, indeed, the new administration has suggested that it intends to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement and roll back or repeal a variety of social and environmental protections. With a theme of “Stronger in Solidarity,” the 2017 AASHE Conference & Expo will focus on how the campus sustainability community can break down walls, build bridges and continue to make progress toward a healthy and equitable future for all.
Sustainability professionals can submit proposals to share their knowledge, achievements and ideas on sustainability advancements in higher education. These proposals will shape the conference schedule, and provides an opportunity for presenters to share their successes and lessons learned, advance the higher education sustainability movement and save money. Proposal will be accepted until February 13.
