Recycling containers at Sports events question

I am trying to update our current system for recycling at football games. I was hoping to find a 55 gallon container with a removable lid so I could cut a bottle shaped hole in the lid and write "PLASTICS ONLY" (or something to that affect), but I can't seem to find any containers out there that are what I want. I was also playing with the idea of using bottle shaped containers, but the brands I'm finding don't go all the way up to 55 gallons. I am willing to make the containers, but I don't know where to start. Any ideas/suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Thanks Garrett,
Hi Haley,
I'd actually recommend 3 different blogs that I wrote. I think the combination of all of them might help.
Garrett referenced the DIY or Buy post.
I'd also recommend Better Aesthetics = Better Results in which I talk about several bin features that I'd recommend and talk about why I think it's important to have aesthetic bins that don't get hidden out of sight (where they too often end up unused).
Lastly, since you are asking about stadium recycling, I'd suggest taking a look at my latest blog Do you see what I see in which I discuss some of the specific issues unique to stadium and event recycling.
Hope this helps.

The "recycling/waste pails" here are a cost effective solution. The lids already have holes in them. Anything bigger than 32 gallons is really challenging to empty when it's full.
You can see picture of other DIY bins that we use in the tailgating areas on our flickr photostream under "game day recycling": http://sustainability.wfu.edu/.
Another great place to find affordable containers that seem to be what you are looking for is:
RONA U. Once you email in to set up an account you will be able to view the products and they have great prices. The only downfall is that the selection is limited.
I also have been trying to find recycling bins to use at our stadium, as there are none right now. Does anyone have recommendations for ones that work well at your stadium? Hopefully affordable ones?
Thanks!
You mention the bottle shaped bins... Coke gave us a bunch of them a few years ago. They looked great....but were a real pain to empty. We have had really great results with cardboard recycling containers co-located with cardboard trash containers. Clear signage is important...we have good luck on gamedays with information on about a 4th grade reading level. : )

Hi Haley,
Our blogger, Roger Guzowski, recently wrote a blog post titled DIY or Buy . It has some helpful considerations to take into account when planning such an undertaking. Hope it's of some help!
