    We are currently in the process of trying to submeter by building our water usage. Does anyone have any suggestions on meters? I would like meters that have modbus capabilities, but any successes/failures/etc experiences would be great to know about!

    Our university buys biodegradable trash liners that meet EPA comprehensive purchasing guidelines. Can the expenditures on these liners count towards our expenditures on green cleaning products, or can we only count expenditures on products that meet Green Seal or EcoLogo standards?     To all interested parties,

    Since we provide our technology across a variety of food service environments, we always get asked: "...how much food waste is typical for us?" (by type of entity.) Until someone or a program or project actually weights the waste over time, it's hard to get an accurate number.

  4. Aerobic Digester

    Due to space constraints and limited access to trucks, we are looking into managing 20 tons of food scraps from our student center by using an aerobic digester. I found a number of companies online such as ORCA Green, Biogreen360, Bio-EZ, EnviroPure, and Somat, but it's hard to figure out what company is best.

    Do you use an aerobic digester to manage your food waste on campus?

    Does your campus have experience with a 3rd party providing independent verification of ghg reductions for a carbon offset project? If yes, please share information that you have readily at hand about the organization that did the verification, the process, and the carbon offset project(s).

    I'm working on a collaborative energy procurement project, and we're in the market for a consulting firm to help us to some financial analysis. Does anyone have any recommendations? It's not a huge project, so a large company (such as an ESCO) probably wouldn't be interested.

  10. How do they know where to go?

    The end of the year is almost here. Are you planning a special collection to divert and re-purpose or recycle all of that stuff that students leave behind? If so, stop for a minute and ask yourself this: if you are the family member or friend typically charged with bringing stuff down either to the car to keep or to the discard pile, how would you know where to go?

    Hello, my university is looking to write a new janitorial bid spec. We are currently purchasing about 45% (item quantity, not cost) green/recycled items. Does anyone have a baseline, or "gold standard" for top tier institutions? For example, gold standard is 65%, or 80%, etc. I have not been able to find anything to compare against.

  12. Filing Shareholder Resolutions

    I'm looking for information on filing shareholder resolutions. Our Socially Responsible Investing Committee is navigating how to address climate change in the most proactive way possible.
    Has your school done this?
    It sounds very time intensive (as opposed to proxy voting) - is this true?
    I would love to hear anything about your experience.

    I have been doing research for a campus sustainability project here at my university in Maine. The direction I have received from the "client", the Campus Sustainability Coordinator, is that we needs a campus engagement mechanism to jump-start comprehensive data collection.

    Congratulations to all the men and women participating in all of the post-season basketball tournaments (even those of you who have already destroyed my brackets).

    But when you hear terms like "nothing but net", or "inside the bubble", do you ignore that as only sports related? I would suggest that if you care about sustainability that you get out of the bubble and embrace the net.
