LED Signs on College Campuses for Publicity Purposes

Hello,
Could anyone provide positive/negative feedback on using LED signage for advertising vendors and publicizing campus events? The idea would be to cut back on paper advertising and custodial operations' cleanup BUT wondering if energy IS really saved or if campus members even look at the signs?
