2025 Call for Applications Details
- Board of DirectorsThe AASHE Board of Directors advises, governs, and oversees policy and direction of AASHE, and assists with the general promotion of AASHE. It consists of sustainability staff, faculty, students, and administrators from AASHE member organizations.
Term: Up to five years
Open Positions: Two (one will be member elected and one will be appointed)
Eligibility: Applicants must be employees or students of a current AASHE member organization in good standing.
To apply for the Board of Directors:
- Review the Board of Director roles and responsibilities.
- Submit an application by Oct. 17, 2025.
- Advisory CouncilConsisting of leaders from higher education, businesses, nonprofits and government, the Advisory Council provides advice and guidance to staff on high-level strategy as well as specific programs and services, including STARS technical development.
Term: Two years
Open Positions: Unlimited
Eligibility: Applicants must be employees or students of a current AASHE member organization in good standing or affiliated with a STARS Partner Organization.

- Review the Advisory Council roles and responsibilities.
- Submit an application by Oct. 17, 2025.
- STARS Steering CommitteeThe STARS Steering Committee (SC) approves updates and revisions to the technical content of STARS, including each new version, and also advises on program policy, finances, and strategic positioning.
Term: Three years, maximum of two terms
Open Positions: Up to three (2 will be selected by election, another may be appointed)
Eligibility: Applicants must be employees or students of a current AASHE member organization in good standing or affiliated with a STARS Partner Organization.
