Sustainability and Indigenous Knowledge Workshop

June 15, 2017

Fleming College is hosting an innovative workshop that will bring Indigenous faculty members and Knowledge Holders together with faculty engaged in sustainability education. This will be a unique opportunity to discuss the synergies between Indigenous teachings and sustainability goals. The session will also include community members from our region and beyond that have a special interest in this area.

The workshop will highlight programs that are successfully bringing these “two worlds” together including Fleming’s Indigenous Perspectives Initiative and Trent University’s Indigenous Environmental Studies and Sciences Program. The day will involve exploring the synergies between these models and sustainability curriculum activities such as sustainability learning outcomes, applied student sustainability projects and inter-disciplinary teaching and learning. The day will also include interactive activities in keeping with these themes. Located in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes area within the Mississauga Territory of Ontario, Canada, this day long workshop will take place at Fleming College on June 15th, 2017 and promises to be a unique opportunity to share knowledge in a way that will leave participants with new insights perspectives for their teaching practice.
