Innovation in Green Building Award
The Innovation in Green Building Award is presented by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education and the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council. This award recognizes a leading college or university that is transforming the built environment and creating living laboratories for sustainability. The application must include at least one LEED certified building in its analysis and would ideally examine how the college or university is using LEED as a tool for campus greening. Special emphasis is placed on innovative projects that promote institutional change, such as projects that use the building as a pedagogical tool or serve as a pilot for green technologies and practices to be rolled out across the campus. The deadline to apply was July 27th, 2012.
Submissions are judged on the following criteria:
- Overall impact of the project on the campus and/or community
- Innovativeness of the green bulding project
- Extent to which the application serves as a model for others
- Clarity and coherence of the writing
- One complimentary conference pass to the Greenbuild 2012 conference, where the award will be presented.
- One complimentary conference pass to the AASHE 2012 conference.
- Recognition on the AASHE and the Center for Green School’s websites.
Any college or university in the U.S. and Canada is eligible for this award - there is no requirement for membership in AASHE and/or USGBC. The first project team member of any application must be affiliated with a college or university. Applications submitted that do not have at least one project team member from a college or university will be disqualified for an award. The application must include at least one LEED certified building in its analysis. Applications that appear designed to sell a particular product or service will not be considered. Although you do not have to be an AASHE member to apply, you must be logged in or create a new account to access the application form.
Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2012 Innovation in Green Building Award.
