Webinar: Navigating High-Integrity Carbon Credits in Higher Education Sustainability Strategies

January 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST
Free

As higher education institutions work toward ambitious climate commitments, many are exploring how carbon credits can responsibly support their broader sustainability strategies. This session brings together experts and practitioners to provide a clear, educational foundation on the role of carbon credits, how to assess credit quality, and how institutions of different sizes approach procurement. Calyx Global, a leading third-party rating agency, will explain the methodologies and quality frameworks used to evaluate carbon credit integrity and avoid greenwashing. CNaught will share insights into the widely recommended portfolio approach and how diversification aligns with emerging scientific guidance on risk and impact. The University of Pennsylvania and Williams College will offer on-the-ground institutional perspectives, discussing how carbon credits fit into their climate action plans, the decision-making processes behind procurement, and how these choices support stakeholder priorities. Attendees will leave with practical, unbiased guidance to help ensure that any use of carbon credits is thoughtful, transparent, and aligned with best practices in the sector.
