Webinar: Microplastic Pollution on Campus

February 12 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST
Free

Microplastic pollution is an urgent environmental challenge with far-reaching impacts on ecosystems and human health. This webinar will provide an in-depth look at the science behind microplastics, their sources, and the innovative strategies being used to address this issue on university campuses. We’ll share findings from our ongoing collaborations with U.S. universities, including Case Western University, where over 100 filters are actively reducing microplastic discharge from laundry facilities. These filters capture up to 90% of microplastics, preventing millions of pieces of plastic from entering waterways each semester. Beyond mitigation, this program creates unique opportunities for student research and experiential learning. Used filter pods are made available for analysis, enabling students to study the types and sources of pollutants in real-world conditions. What you’ll learn: The science and environmental impact of microplastic pollution How campuses are implementing practical solutions Insights from real-world data and student-led research initiatives.
