The 2026 Higher Education Summit will explore how Education for Sustainable Development can empower learners to navigate complexity, embrace diversity, and drive meaningful change toward a just and sustainable future.

The theme of WSSD-U-2026 is "From Knowledge to Action: Developing Core Competencies in Sustainable Development", and will contribute to the further development of this fast-growing field. As the slogan of the event suggests, we are as always looking for practical experiences on Education, Research and Extension (the so-called 3rd Mission, whereby universities outreach to society as a whole (e.g. to local communities, organisations, industry and other groups) with the aim of identifying ways to intensify competence-building, and speed-up the implementation of the UN SDGs, since 2030 is not that far.
