Diet for a Cooler Planet: Local, Sustainable Seafood Virtual Event

In 2018, UMass Dining’s Sustainability team created a yearly event with the purpose of bringing attention to the rapidly increasing issue of global climate change. Specifically, this event was created to highlight the different food growing, preparation, and eating practices that act a means to reduce and even combat carbon emissions. This event takes inspiration from PROJECT DRAWDOWN ​and has taken many forms, but it has always had the throughlines of incorporating the themes below into a menu and inviting new perspectives into the conversation.

This event covers sustainable seafood and how seafood sourced from Massachusetts can be part of a diet for a cooler planet. Learn about the ecology, business and future of Massachusetts finfish and shellfish.
