Using ESRI Storymaps to Communicate About Sustainability: Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop at Furman University 2022

June 21, 2022 - June 28, 2022

This virtual workshop will be conducted in two sessions. The first session will be Tuesday, June 21, from 12:00-1:30 EST. The second session will be Tuesday, June 28, from 12:00-1:30 EST and is open to 40 participants.

The workshop will teach participants how to use Esri StoryMaps, a rich, interactive web-based platform, that allows users to easily create engaging sustainability-based stories. The workshop will also promote conversation about space and place’s role in sustainability education.

The session will begin with a discussion on space and place and its relevance to teaching and communicating sustainability ideas. Then, participants will be taught how to use Esri StoryMaps, and how to integrate multimedia components (including pictures, videos, interactive maps, and more) with text to tell a compelling story. Between sessions, participants will be asked to create their own StoryMap to explore and get hands-on experience with the technology. In the second session, participants will discuss their experiences creating StoryMaps and how they may integrate it into their courses, work, or research.
