Workshop: From Awareness to Action: Building Sustainability Capability Across Your Campus
Most campus sustainability efforts stall not because of weak strategy, but because the people responsible for delivering them don’t yet have the skills to act. Institutions commit to net zero. Staff complete online modules. Completion rates go up. Carbon doesn’t come down.
The gap between sustainability ambition and real-world delivery is a skills gap. It sits in procurement teams who don’t know how to read a Scope 3 inventory. In operations staff who understand the target but not the trade-offs. In faculty who want to embed sustainability into their teaching but aren’t sure where to start.
This Learning Lab introduces the Awareness > Focus > Act methodology: a structured, team-based sprint format that moves participants from understanding a sustainability challenge to committing to a specific action on it. It is not a lecture or a panel. It is a fast-paced, collaborative exercise in actually doing the work.
In this 105-minute session, participants will work in deliberately mixed teams drawn from across their institutions and sectors. Each team works through a real campus sustainability challenge brief: mapping what they know, interrogating trade-offs, and designing a practical, cross-functional response. Teams present their responses, score each other on reasoning quality and actionability, and leave with a personal commitment and a replicable sprint structure they can take back to their campus.
The session is grounded in five years of delivery across more than 5,000 professionals and young people in 22 countries, including universities, global corporations, and sports organizations. The methodology has generated measurable capability shifts: 200+ climate actions committed at SailGP across 22 countries, and 97% of Arsenal FC staff reporting intent to reduce their carbon footprint following a single structured sprint.
Participants will leave with a tool they can use immediately. The methodology is designed to be picked up and run again, without a consultant in the room. That is the point: sustainability capability that lives in your institution, not in an external provider.

She spent six seasons inside one of sport’s most data-driven organisations, launching McLaren F1’s first sustainability agenda and leading partnerships in R&D, AI, machine learning and emerging technologies with Goldman Sachs, Google, Deloitte and Unilever. A typhoon at the Japanese Grand Prix showed her first-hand how climate risk was already disrupting elite sport, and it never left her.
Moving into management consultancy, she advised FTSE100 senior leaders on data-driven sustainability strategies at Capgemini Invent, working across the Rugby World Cup, Ryder Cup and clients including Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and AWS. She founded Sustained Futures in 2023 on a conviction that the data discipline and long-term thinking that defines elite sport is exactly what every industry needs to navigate climate change and the AI transition.
Sustained Futures reverse engineers organisations’ sustainability ambitions into precise skills gaps across 160+ competencies and 10 departments. Its 1+1 model upskills organisations from the boardroom to the classroom, funding a free certification for a young person aged 15 to 25 for every corporate training place sold. Clients include Barclays, Arsenal FC, Adobe, Dyson, SailGP and the United Nations.
She studied Sustainable Development Leadership at the University of Exeter and received a full Santander scholarship for the W50 Emerging Leaders Programme at LSE.
