Course: Changemaking Leadership in Higher Education
Join a dynamic network of leading changemakers dedicated to reshaping the educational landscape!
This unique program empowers visionary higher education leaders to cultivate a changemaking ecosystem that drives innovation, fosters meaningful transformation, and empowers faculty, staff, students, and alumni to realize their power as changemakers.
Length: 6 months
Location: Online
Participants: Higher education leaders and administrators interested in activating their campus’ changemaker ecosystem and in helping students, faculty, staff, and community members to become changemakers – collaboratively finding and implementing innovative solutions to problems in their community.
Format: 5 modules + Kick-off + Concluding Event. Bi-weekly virtual calls + assignments to apply content directly to your campus, school, and/or program. Modules will be supplemented with recommended reading materials, cohort discussions, and guided opportunities for self-reflection.

Assignments will provide opportunities for you to apply theory to practice in designing your own changemaking leadership strategy to transform your campus, school, and/or program and to activate changemakers across your community.
The content is based on 20+ years supporting campus communities in practicing and integrating social innovation to address social issues. Content and module facilitators come from Ashoka’s network of Changemaker Campuses – 12 of which are AASHE members.

The course will meet over 6 bi-weekly sessions on Tuesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. ET: October 28, November 11 and 25, December 9 and 23, January 6. All sessions will be recorded and made available to registered participants.

A limited number of scholarships are available to individuals who need financial assistance to participate. Please apply two weeks before the program begins to be considered for a scholarship for this workshop.

Registration using these forms of payment must be received 4 weeks prior to the event start date and full payment must be received by AASHE within 2 weeks of event start date. - Cancellation Policy: A 20% processing fee applies to any cancellation processed up to ten days before the program starts. No refunds will be given after that date.

Facilitators
Heather MacCleoud, Chief Network Officer, Ashoka
Heather MacCleoud, PhD has been developing global partnerships to address global issues for 20 years. With a focus on higher education, she has created strategic opportunities for international engagement and collaboration in service of sustainable and inclusive development. Most recently, her focus has been on developing global communities of practice and research. Dr. MacCleoud works closely with individuals, organizations, associations, and government entities to leverage the higher education sector to create a world where Everyone is a Changemaker.
In addition to her work at Ashoka, she is chief executive officer for the Asherah Foundation, a nonprofit focused on supporting women around the world who need a second chance through higher education. She also sits on the Nonprofit Council to advise U-Pledge, a venture-backed FinTech platform which aims to revolutionize the way people donate to nonprofits, political campaigns, and crowdfunding platforms. MacCleoud received her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri where she focused her research on connecting the individual lived experiences of underserved women seeking to access higher education around the world with global policies designed to support their access. She also has an entrepreneurial background, having founded a higher education consortium while working at the Department of Higher Education for Missouri.
