Webinar: ASHRAE Guidelines & Solutions for University Energy Programs Going Forward

September 23, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Free

Webinar has moved from August 6 to September 23

The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing university energy and sustainability teams to overcome new challenges in managing energy costs and reaching reduction goals. All three course delivery formats, in-person, remote, and hybrid, present multiple concerns surrounding building health, reducing costs, and the future of optimization programs moving forward.

This webinar explores ASHRAE guidelines for university building readiness, and discusses how one university is adapting future programs and priorities in response to COVID-19 impacts on their campus. We’ll also discuss quick wins to save energy costs during shutdowns and partial reopens.

Presenters

John Mesik

Jonathan Mesik, Mechanical Engineer & Principal, DLR Group

Jon is a mechanical engineer and leads integrated design engineering teams across multiple market sectors. Beyond his engineering design responsibilities, his passion is to mentor the next generation of engineers to expand the breadth and depth of their experiences, and encourage them to not shy away from difficult or new design endeavors.

“What I love about my work in the design arena is that it combines creativity with math, physics, thermodynamics, and other scientific tools of engineering to create an elevated human experience. And at the same time, I love the fact that we don’t just think about the visual impact of a space but look at the experience of the space, the human comfort factors and more.  I’m excited to be part of a firm that thinks in this way.”

Prior to joining DLR Group, Jon spent time working at the Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory as part of the design and construction team for support systems for the collider detector, an experience Jon says provided invaluable insight into design, construction, and maintenance that has helped him solve problems for many projects.

Jon’s project experience is indicative of his passion for energy efficiency, designing systems for multiple LEED rated buildings, and other high performing buildings.
