Teaching Resilience and Sustainability: An Interdisciplinary Eco-pedagogy Workshop

Join Zoom for a workshop for faculty to present the following ideas and concepts in the classroom.  The event will begin with educational talks from Dr. Laurie Eberhardt on how plastic pollution impacts living organisms and Dan Perkins a farmer, who will speak about regenerative agriculture. Followed by three presentations on different activities that faculty can bring teach to their students on eco-pedagogy.

  • Raising awareness of the interconnectedness and interdependence between humans and nonhumans
  • Fostering creativity and systems-thinking to try to solve environmental issues
  • Helping students connect with their surroundings by using nature and place-based learning
  • Learning about non-Western sustainable knowledge and practices
  • Raising ecological awareness from a position of hope and understanding, not despair
