The University of Vermont’s Continuing and Distance Education program is offering a five-day on-campus Campus Sustainability Leadership course focusing on change through transformative and financially sustainable initiatives to help campuses become sustainability models. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their professional network and learn from leaders in the field.

Workshop Goal: Develop in-depth understanding of large-scale renewable electricity (LSRE) options available to Midwest schools, and discuss a path toward accelerating efforts to decarbonize energy supply with cost- competitive renewable electricity. Emphasis will be placed on the potential for collaboration by aggregating demand across institutions to achieve economic and environmental goals.
This year’s consortium will focus on the topic of effective collaborations (within campuses, between campuses, and between campuses and communities). Events will include guest speakers, panel discussions and group workshops.
As our campuses confront climate risks, MIT representatives will present methods they are using to engage research and operational experts in charting a climate-resilient future.
Join the National Council for Science and the Environment in collaboration with Arizona State University’s Julian Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability and SSF to hear how this model for local collaboration in Puerto Rico has progressed post-Maria, and inspired a United States national network of higher education leaders focusing on resilience, data-driven decision-making, and local solutions. The webinar will address models for university contribution to resilience in islands and smaller countries at risk from extreme weather events.
The Canadian College and University Environmental Network (CCUEN) and Canadian Alliance of College and University Sustainability Professionals (CUSP) are co-organizing Canada’s first comprehensive sustainability in higher education conference. Keynote speaker is Amy Luers, executive director of Future Earth. The program includes sessions on living labs, research, operations, curriculum, social justice, and partnerships.
The Offset Network and Second Nature are working together to support creative and novel carbon reduction projects implemented within higher education. This certificate program will provide an overview of the SDGs and the context in which they were negotiated. Participants in this program will review the general merits of the SDGs, examine the means for integrating them into organizational plans and programming, and evaluate progress towards achieving results in implementing the SDGs.
