STARS Timeline
Jan. 2010: Launch of STARS 1.0 system including the on-line reporting tool and updated STARS website.
Dec. 31, 2009: Last day for discounted registration for STARS 1.0
Fall 2009: Minor administrative updates made to the STARS system.
Sept. 20, 2009: STARS 1.0 Early Release announced at Greening of the Campus VIII: Embracing Change and beginning of the registration period for campuses wishing to be Charter Participants.
May - Aug, 2009: Feedback from the STARS Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is collected. Credit revisions made to next version of STARS.
Feb. - May, 2009: AASHE compiles the results from the STARS pilot project.
Dec. 31, 2008: STARS pilot period ends.
September 2008: AASHE releases Guide to STARS Pilot Phase Two (pdf) of the STARS pilot project.
April 2008: AASHE releases STARS 0.5 (pdf), which opens a public comment period that lasts until May 30, 2008. View feedback received (pdf).

Oct. – Dec. 2007: AASHE conducts focused conference calls with experts and interested parties. View call schedule and notes.
Sept. – Dec. 2007: Experts from throughout the sustainability and higher education communities provide feedback on the draft system. View feedback provided (pdf) and survey results (pdf).
Sept. 2007: AASHE releases STARS 0.4, a draft version of the rating system that includes potential credits. View STARS 0.4 (pdf).
Oct. 2006 – Sept. 2007: AASHE gathers feedback from workshop participants at several campus sustainability conferences, including AASHE 2006, the 2007 Rocky Mountain Sustainability Summit (pdf), the 2007 Smart and Sustainable Campuses Conference (pdf), and the 2007 Greening of the Campus Conference.
Aug. 2006: Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEASC) issues a call for AASHE to develop a campus sustainability rating system. View the call.
