Program Description

The BSSBE degree will allow students to focus on creative solutions to the challenges of building in a world with limited supplies of energy, water and land through hands-on sustainable problem solving both inside and outside of the classroom.

The degree is a four-year, 120-credit hour program.

The BSSBE degree has been designed to provide majors with the opportunity to combine the degree with accelerated completion of a graduate degree from the College of Design, Construction and Planning. Graduates will have excellent opportunities for work in various green industries, for governmental agencies involved with regulation and management of the built environment and with non-profit organizations promoting the principles of sustainability. Additionally, students will be prepared to matriculate into combined degree programs offered in association with the degree and to enter graduate school in a wide range of areas including architecture, building construction, interior design, landscape architecture and urban and regional planning.
