Program Description

The Sustainable Development degree is interdisciplinary and draws upon courses from throughout the University. Required core elements familiarize students with principles and practices in biological, physical, and social sciences as well as the arts and humanities. The degree is designed to assist students in learning about existing practices in sustainable development, identifying the potential for and obstacles to implementing such practices in the U.S. and throughout the world, as well as provide students opportunites for practical experience in the field through community engagement and outreach.
