Student Sustainability Leadership Award

This award honors an undergraduate student from an AASHE member institution who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting campus sustainability.

The Student Sustainability Leadership Award includes a $750 prize. In addition, the winner of this year's award will be featured in Sustainability: The Journal of Record

Eligibility: Any undergraduate student enrolled at an AASHE member institution who has played a leadership role in implementing campus sustainability is eligible for this award. Students graduating in Spring 2008 are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Application Process

To apply for a 2008 Student Sustainability Leadership Award, please complete an application form (doc) and submit it electronically as a Word document.

In addition, please have someone who can comment knowledgeably on your work for campus sustainability submit a letter of recommendation. This person may be a sponsor, mentor, or teacher, but not your parent or legal guardian. The letter should describe the nature of your relationship and why you are a strong candidate for the Student Sustainability Leadership Award. The letter of recommendation should be emailed directly from the recommender. Only one letter of recommendation per applicant will be accepted.

Your application and the letter of recommendation must be emailed to awards@aashe.org by August 1, 2008. Applicants will receive notice of the award decisions by mid-August.  The award will be presented in November at AASHE 2008 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
