Call for Submissions: Presidents Climate Commitment Video Competition
What is it?
The American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) is soliciting videos that demonstrate creative strategies for communicating the ACUPCC across your campus and beyond.
Five selected videos will be highlighted and screened at the 2nd biennial conference of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) November 9-11th in Raleigh, NC. Videos will also be made publicly available on the AASHE and ACUPCC websites, providing exposure for institutional efforts and sharing creative strategies to build awareness. For general questions regarding the competition please email videocontest@aashe.org
Why?
It has been said that "communicationis to sustainability whatlocationis to real estate." So communicating goals and strategies with institutional and community stakeholders is a key component in achieving success. The ACUPCC Video Competition is a chance to share your institution's creative strategies for communicating the ACUPCC. If you have not yet developed a communication strategy, now is your opportunity!
Collective action requires collective participation, which cannot happen without communication. Here are some questions that may be fun to ask the members of your campus community in the video (while highlighting your creative means of communicating the ACUPCC):
- Are you aware that the president/chancellor has committed our institution to achieving 'climate neutrality'?
- Can you define 'climate neutrality'?
- What do you know about the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment?
- Can you name the 6 greenhouse gases that are required to be measured in our greenhouse gas inventory?
- Can you name the president/chancellor?
- What is the coolest thing about the ACUPCC at our campus?
This competition provides:
-
an opportunity to have fun and to be creative;
-
the motivation to build collective awareness and action around the commitment;
-
a way to show what's happening at your school in communicating the ACUPCC; and
-
an opportunity for students and the campus community to be involved in building awareness of the initiative
