Interface, IBM, PortionPac and Baltix Furniture Sponsor AASHE Office

Last September, AASHE moved into a new office here in Lexington, Kentucky, and now that we're all settled in, we wanted to virtually share our new space with you. And first, the AASHE staff would like to sincerely thank IBM - Lexington, Interface, Inc, PortionPac, and Baltix Sustainable Furniture for their generation donations in helping to get our new office up and running.

The Lexington IBM office is currently downsizing, and a few of their bighearted employees decided for donate some of their leftover furniture to AASHE. Here are some photos that show the IBM tables on our back deck, the IBM chairs and shelves (with AASHE intern Robin), and an IBM white board and easel (with AASHE intern Matt). Baltix Sustainable Furniture offered us a discount on some tables, desks, and drawers for the new office. Here's a photo of (from left to right) Elizabeth and Lisa at their workstations made out of wheat and sunflower seeds, Niles at his sunflower seed table, and one of many Baltix tables ready for our future staff and interns. And here's a few more photos of the rest of our office so that you can get a sense of where you are calling and/or emailing: John and Andrea at their desks, and the front of the building:

Many companies are becoming

Many companies are becoming more green conscious about eco-friendly practices. I came across your site looking for green office furniture and found your information about workstations made of wheat and sunflower seeds. Very cool! Hopefully more of these products will be available in the near future. Our company has tried to find manufacturers being more green that we can offer including a manufacturer working with moso bamboo which is a very green material used in flooring, kitchen products and furniture. Thank you for this post. - Phil

That was very cool of them to

That was very cool of them to donate the furniture to you. We sometimes do the same in our community. It is hard to donate small amounts to anyone far away because of the huge shipping costs and damages associated with the transportation of furniture. If you ever have anyone with a truck in the Memphis area and need a few more things we might be able to help. Just let us know. Our website has our contact information. Good Luck

This is a great post. Thank

This is a great post. Thank you for putting this post out there for all of us. It has helped a lot especially for those who have a little-know-how about furniture.
