AASHE Reached 2 Membership Milestones in September
Last month (September), AASHE reached 2 membership milestones within 5 days.
1. On September 19th, 2007, AASHE received its 300th campus membership.
2. On September 24th, 2007, AASHE received its 400th membership (this includes campus, business, NGO’s, K-12, and system offices)
That’s right folks! AASHE now has over 400 total members to serve! Check out this cool graph:
Pretty inspiring, huh? Higher Education is really taking a lead role in sustainability.
With the increase in membership comes a need to better serve each one of you.
To start, we recently increased our staff. Lisa was hired back in August for planning the AASHE 2008 conference and for strategic planning in general. I, as you know if you have read my previous post, was also hired in August to take over the membership responsibilities and to help out with other AASHE projects. Additionally, AASHE recently hired two interns from the University of Kentucky to help with the Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS) and the online Resource Center. Thanks to these new additions, AASHE was able to shift previous responsibilities so that each staff member can now focus their energy on the quality, rather than multiplicity, of their projects.
We are also in the process of redesigning our content delivery system on our web-site to provide you with more engaging and stimulating information. We now have the Campus Sustainability Perspectives blog, and, in the next few months, you will have access to podcasts and wikis!!! Soon after that, we plan to launch a monthly webinar series on campus sustainability topics. Fantastique!!
