AASHE is Hiring:

STARS Intern 

AASHE seeks an intern for the summer of 2008 to assist with the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) program. STARS is a voluntary, self-reporting framework for gauging relative progress toward sustainability for colleges and universities. It is currently in the pilot phase. Learn more about STARS.

Internship Description

The intern will perform some combination of the following tasks, depending on skills and interests:

  • Research other certification or rating systems and standards to identify best practices for allocating points, maintaining/updating the system, and determining standards.
  • Help revise STARS credits, with particular focus on the “Education and Research” and “Administration and Finance” categories. This involves conducting research and gathering input from campus sustainability stakeholders
  • Assist in researching funding opportunities and writing grant applications.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as necessary for the development of the STARS program.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong internet research skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, able to work with limited supervision
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Interest and experience in campus sustainability
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States (required)

Location

Interns should be prepared to work remotely from a home office or from our central office in Lexington, Kentucky.

Compensation and Hours

Full-time, $10-15/hour, depending on experience.
