Membership Coordinator Job Posting

The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) seeks a Membership Coordinator to assist with membership renewal and retention, membership processing, and reporting membership data.

Position description: The Membership Coordinator is responsible for soliciting membership renewals, processing membership applications, updating member information in the database and on the website, and producing membership-related reports. AASHE members and associate members include approximately 1,100 colleges, universities, businesses, non-profits, K-12 schools, and government agencies.

The Membership Coordinator reports to the Membership and Outreach Director, and works closely with the Database Administrator and the Membership Outreach Coordinator. The ability to work collaboratively and creatively within a distributed organization is vital to this position, since team members are in different locations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Solicit membership renewals, respond to member inquiries, and perform other work to support membership retention objectives
  • Process membership forms and maintain accurate database and website information
  • Produce regular membership updates and member feedback reports, and assist with membership projections and tracking reports
  • Coordinate delivery of business leader and supporter benefits
  • Write, update, and revise membership-related mailings
  • Maintain updated membership policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as required, including assistance with member recruitment

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively – primarily by telephone – with diverse members, and successfully sell AASHE membership renewal
  • High level of individual initiative required, including ability to work with limited supervision and resolve practical problems independently
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with accuracy and attention to detail paramount
  • Excellent organizational skills, enabling you to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience using a customer relations database (e.g., Access or Salesforce).
  • Intermediate level experience working with Excel. Basic website editing skills. Ability to rapidly learn new software.
  • Associate’s degree (bachelor degree preferred)
  • At least one year of work experience in member recruitment, database management, sales, or marketing (two or more years experience preferred)

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher/post-secondary education environment
  • Experience working with diverse populations including racial and ethnic minorities
  • Background or interest in sustainability in higher education

Location

The Membership Coordinator will work in AASHE’s business and membership office in Lexington, KY.

Hours and Compensation

This is a part-time (29 hrs/week), non-exempt position. The hourly rate of pay is $12 to $15 per hour depending on experience and education. The position is eligible for some benefit plans offered by AASHE.
