Hello,
I am evaluating the "Facilities for Bicyclists" STARS credit for my community college and I have a question pertaining to the criteria for this credit. Do shower facilities and lockers for bicycle commuters need to be specifically designated for bicyclists in order to earn this credit? In other words, if we have showers and lockers available in our athletic building that all students may use, can that count toward this credit? (We do have indoor and secure bike storage available.)

Thanks for the great question. The criteria for OP Tier Two Credit 27: Facilities for Bicyclists in STARS 1.2 read:
Institution has indoor and secure bike storage, shower facilities, and lockers for bicycle
commuters in at least one building. Storing bicycles in office space does not count for this
credit.
The facilities do not have to be specifically designated for cyclists to earn points for the credit, as long as they are available to them and co-located in at least one building.

Of course a shower is a shower...There is no such thing as a shower for bicycle commuters only
