Has anyone successfully permitted a wind turbine, in particular a vertical axis turbine, in an urban setting? Would you be able to share your experience and/or put me in touch with people in the agency that approved the permits? We are beginning the process of seeking permits for a vertical axis wind turbine in Washington D.C. and would like to provide our permitting agency with examples from elsewhere.

Thanks,

One of the most high visible and early examples (2005) would be the first commercial-scale wind turbine within the City of Boston. It is a 100 kW unit from Fuhrlaender on a 35-meter tower with rotor diameter of 21 meters, visible from the John F. Kennedy Library. Article available here.
