Hello,
We are looking into a 'mix & match' type transit pass--that would allow students and/or employees to use various modes of transportation on the days that work for them (i.e. combining carpool with a transit pass and a couple of daily parking permits). Is anyone implementing this type of program/permit? And if so, do you have information regarding implementation costs, etc that you might provide? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Best regards,

The University of Washington's U-Pass is the best example of this I know of - it has been very successful for many years. Talk to Josh Kavanaugh there, Transportation Services Director (206) 685-1567
The web page for the program is at: http://www.washington.edu/facilities/transportation/commuterservices/u-pass
This seems like a good way to go, overall. How well things fit together as an integrated program may depend on the parameters of programs available through Tri-Met, your vanpooling providers, carpooling services and Lewis & Clark's approach to funding it all.
You may have more flexibility as a private institution than we do at CU as a state school. UW stepped out ahead of most early-on in response to a government mandate to reduce traffic and air quality impacts.

UC Rivershide also has a program that might qualify as "mix & match" - have a look at: http://www.parking.ucr.edu/index.php?content=accountcenter/atrenew/atren...
If you don't buy a commuter parking permit and register in their Alternative Transportation program with a carpool, registered bike, as a walker, etc. you then become eligible for free parking roughly one day a week. All get free access to the RTA transit system.

Hi Amy,
Do you have a current transit pass program in place that is not mix and match? The reason I ask is to learn if a current system isn't working as optimally as hoped and perhaps the reasons why.
U Washington has somewhat of a mix and match system (details here).
Although a few years old, the book Transportation & Sustainable Campus Communities is still a great resource with many case studies and a chapter dedicated to transit passes. Great analysis into the cost involved and ways to calculate costs are also included.
