I recently received an anonymous question on how institutions fund their campus sustainability efforts. Specifically, how much is being spent on coordinating campus sustainability activities and from which unit(s) on campus is that coordination being done? Does anyone know of any surveys of universities on their expenditures for central administration to support sustainability programs, or even the existence of such central administration?
Hi Andrea,
At EMCC we are responsible for funding outside funding and donations. Our college gave us a very small one time use funds for funding some projects, but we are actually looking to see how we can gain better donations both monetary and in-kind to help with our projects.

Hi Andrea,
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but at Pikes Peak Community College, a Student fee of $.31 per credit hour was voted on by the students to pay the salary of a Sustainability Coordinator position (reports to Student Services -- Probably would be better to report to Facilities Services) plus an annual opperating budget. The fee will need to be re affirmed by another student vote in Spring of 2015.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Andrea,
I'm not sure if this helps you exactly but my companies program that helps colleges and universities collect and recycle textbooks helps provide funding for the coordination of sustainability programs. www.bookdrivesinc.com if your interested.
