We are looking at purchasing energy display dashboards. Does anyone have a dashboard that they are happy with or unhappy with? If anyone has results of decreased energy consumption from these in their residential halls, I would like to hear what kind of decrease you received as a result. How are they displayed and where (touch screen, personal computers via internet feed, etc)? I have looked at Lucid and GreenTouch, but would like some feedback from colleges that have them or other systems.
Bowdoin College has been using the Lucid Dashboard for electricity consumption on our campus since January and have been happy with the performance (displays performance of 34 buildings - with hopefully more added this coming year). We currently don't have any public kiosks but are hoping to add one or two this year. At this point we have an Orb on the student gateway http://www.bowdoin.edu/gateway/student/ and links from our Sustainability website. We did a little push with it last spring with a two week dorm competition, but plan to promote it heavily this fall during our month long energy conservation dorm competition.
Due to the extreme heat in the northeast today we were notified this morning to reduce demand as much as possible. The dashboard has been helpful in looking for areas where we can possibly reduce demand further.
Feel free to send me an e-mail if you have specific questions. cpayson@bowdoin.edu
I am from University of Western Sydney in Australia and we are just starting to get a dashboard operational but I did see an exceptional one on the Arizona state university website, here is the link for your info http://cm.asu.edu/

The University of Missouri has been working with Lucid for the last two years. I worked directly with their staff and was very happy with the help and support they offered. We did not use their kiosks because of the price but we were trying our best to utilize the system in our already existing displays.
This past year we held a month-long conservation competition between the three resident halls that are connected to the system. We saved 18,718 KWh, or $1,591, and had hundreds of hits to our website. The key to success seems to be in how you engage the students/faculty/staff. Last year we did not have a chance to work with our student advisors in the halls to get them educated on energy conservation and the dashboard, so when we heard that many students had asked questions and talked about it on their floors we new we had an opportunity in the future to engage them.

I hope you don't mind a plug here for my company, Pulse Energy. Our dashboard is used by the University of British Columbia among others, you can check it out a demo version of it here: http://ubc.pulseenergy.com. The text and pictures on the front page are customizable, as are the text and Green Features when you drill down into specific locations. We will be adding a Competitions module soon that will allow users to run energy-reduction competitions between buildings or areas within a building. The main difference between our product and Lucid or Green Touchscreen is that Lucid and Green Touch specialize in dashboards, while in our case dashboards are a part of a bigger energy managment software tool.
We hosted a webinar recently where John Metras, UBC's Managing Director of Infrastructure Development talked about energy sustainability on campus, he discussed occupant engagement and the role our software played in it on slides 10, 22, 23, and 24 of the recording: www.slideshare.net/PulseEnergy/pulse-energy-energy-sustainability-on-campus-webinar.
We also hosted a webinar on reducing energy through building occupant engagement specifically; the case study presented was from an office building but many of the tips and hints will likely apply on a university campus as well: http://www.slideshare.net/PulseEnergy/building-occupant-engagement. One of the keys for a successfull occupant engagement campaign identified by our guest speaker identified was finding energy conservation champions, which seems to be in line with what Patrick is saying. That webinar also talks about energy reductions that they measured and attributed directly to the campaign.
Hope this helps, get in touch with me if you want more info: julius at pulseenergy.com

I work for a large design build company and have a partnership with a company in Iowa providing some very innovative solutions http://www.qagraphics.com/interactive-development/energy-efficiency-education-dashboard.html. They have an open source system that requries no contract of monthly fees. My custoemrs are able to make content changes on thier own. We have deployed the application on three college campus over the last two years totalling 465 buildings with great sucess. If you are looking for an eduational dashboard with live data I would look to them for help.
We have also have done some work with Lucid and QAS but those services are now competing with our control software divisions, energy monitioring solution. We now view them as competition.

We are in the same boat. I can't find anything beyond LUCID & QAS (qualityattributes - Green Touch).
I have discovered that some larger companies have protocols established with one or the other. Our Siemes BAS is capable of downloading to QAS.

Most institutions that I have found use LUCID. I have asked Siemens to explore connections to LUCID.
Good luck...let me know how you make out.
