This post is related to STARS, AASHE's Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System.
Hello, I'm a graduate student at SUNY-ESF interested in comparing biofuel presence on other campuses. Which campuses have biodiesel or ethanol produced on campus and used in the campus vehicle fleet? Which campuses use biomass for energy on campus? How much does this typically contribute to the campus' GHG reduction and STARS score? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Mark:
Check out Loyola University Chicago's Biodiesel Program. Students and faculty partnered with the Chicago Park District to help launch a pilot biodiesel plant that will help fuel the district's fleet of vehicles.

Hi Mark,
You may find the resources in the Transportation section of our resource center helpful. We have resource list of campus fleets that utilize biodiesel, electric vehicles and hybrid Vehicles.
For information on how transportation solutions can assist in greenhouse mitigation you might want to take a look at that section in our climate action planning how to guide.
You can find out more about how this can contribute to a campuses STARS rating by checking out the STARS Technical Manual that includes sections on the credits associated with transportation and an institutions energy use.
Hope that helps!
