Special Events for Conference Attendees

Decision Theater Tours
The Decision Theater at Arizona State University is a world-class facility for decision makers, policy analysts and community members to access, visualize and identify outcomes and future scenarios and address challenging problems in a unique, visualization environment. Located in the Brickyard in downtown Tempe, the Decision Theater provides immersive experience using a 270-degree rear projection screen with seating for up to 25 people. See Campus Map B-1.

Tours of Decision Theater are scheduled for Wednesday October 4 and Thursday October 5 at 12:00, 1:30, and 3:00 PM, and Friday October 6 for 12:00 PM. Meet at Decision Theater at your tour time and allow an hour and a half for enjoying the tour, asking questions, and traveling back to ASU main campus. Because space is limited, tour signups are on a first come-first served basis. All tour reservations may be made in advance to Callie Babbitt (callie@ufl.edu or (352)262-6220). Wednesday tour signups must be made in advance. Thursday and Friday tour signups can be done at registration.

Bicycle Rentals
Bicycles will be available for conference attendees to rent for free during the conference, courtesy of the ASU Bike Co-op Program and USG Community Bikes. Helmets and locks are included with the rental. Bikes can be rented at registration on a first come-first served basis as a limited number of bikes are available. A credit card is required at the time of rental to ensure against loss or damage to the bike.

Hike Up "A" Mountain
Located in the heart of Tempe, due west of Sun Devil Stadium, "A" Mountain provides magnificent views of Tempe, ASU campus, and Sky Harbor International Airport. See Campus Map A-3.

There will be a guided hike up "A" Mountain on Thursday October 5 from 6:30 to approximately 7:30 AM. Meet at the mountain's base, in the parking lot at the intersection of Mill Avenue and Third Street, behind Tempe Mission Palms, for stretching before heading up the steady incline. Bring sunscreen and plenty of water, and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, as the footing is uneven and steep in places.

Sun Devil Yoga
Yoga is designed to bring awareness to the body, mind, and spirit through physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation. Sun Devil Yoga classes are conducted by instructors who are have undergone extensive training and are Yoga Alliance certified.

There will be a beginner's level morning yoga session on Friday October 6 from 6:45 - 7:45 AM in the Student Recreation Center, located at the south end of Palm Walk, off Apache Blvd (See Campus Map F-5). Mats will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing and bring plenty of water. You must show your conference badge for admission to the yoga class.

Sneaker Tour of ASU Campus
Sneaker Tours™ are an informative and interesting way to explore ASU up-close and in action by visiting selected areas of campus in a small group. Not only do Sneaker Tours offer a face-to-face opportunity to experience how ASU as changed and grown over the years, but they also offer a chance to learn first-hand how this multi-campus, major metropolitan research university plays a significant role in the economic development and growth of Arizona.

A Sneaker Tour will be held Wednesday October 4 to visit the ASU Arboretum, all the natural plantings throughout campus, and the Natural Sciences Living Collection and Reptile Exhibit. The tour will meet at 2:30 PM at the steps/fountain north of Old Main (See Campus Map C-4). The tour will last an hour and a half and will involve walking, so wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen and bring plenty of water. Space is limited to about 20 people, so please signup in advance to Callie Babbitt (callie@ufl.edu or (352)262-6220).
