In recognition of Campus Sustainability Day 2012, Massasoit Community College will host Zero Waste Day to raise awareness about the need to reduce waste on campus and in the community.
- Students, faculty, and staff will be able to bring in electronics, batteries, CFLs, and other items to recycle.
- Students will participate in a dumpster dive to assess the amount of recyclable items entering the campus waste stream.
- Information will be presented about campus initiatives including single-stream recycling, composting, sustainable landscaping, and hydration stations, as well as about the state’s waste ban regulations and pending bottle bill legislation.
- A Halloween costume contest will award prizes for the best costumes made of recycled materials.
- A second Zero Waste Day will be held on 11/1 at the college's Canton campus, 900 Randolph Street, Canton, MA.
