Food Day is new, national, annual celebration on October 24th created by the Center for Science in the Public Interest to increase awareness and action for a more sustainable food future. Communities across the nation will be hosting Food Day events and activities to support Food Day’s six commitments:
- Reduce diet-related disease by promoting safe, healthy foods
- Support sustainable farms & limit subsidies to big agribusiness
- Expand access to food and alleviate hunger
- Protect the environment & animals by reforming factory farms
- Promote health by curbing junk-food marketing to kids
- Support fair conditions for food and farm workers
UNH will be participating in Food Day with a signature event on October 24th in MUB Theater II:
- 2:30-4 PM: Fair Trade Café
- 4-5:15 PM: Rob Everts, Co-Founder, Equal Exchange. "Equal Exchange: A Radical Model for Global Food, Farming & Business." Co-sponsored by the UNH Center for International Education, the Sustainability Institute at UNH, and the Carsey Institute
- 5:15-5:45 PM: Fair Trade Café
- 5:30 - 7:00 PM: UNH Sustainable Food Task Force Video & Panel Discussion
