NATIONAL CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY WEEK

The Office of Sustainability Management is s collaborating with faculty and students in the Sustainability Club to sponsor a special guest lecturer, Karen Ristuben, who will present a multimedia performance/lecture on the issue of marine plastic pollution, plastics toxicity and public health viewed through the lenses of marine science, economics, politics, and public policy. Her project deals with our use, over-use, and disposal of plastics, highlighting the issue of marine plastic pollution and its impact on ocean ecosystems including the marine food chain. This event is sponsored by the Office of Sustainability Management and supported by the Sustainability Club and the Students Services Office. For more information contact Kim Frashure.
Electronic Device Recycling Day
October 25, 2012 @ 9-4pm in D- Lounge
The Office of Sustainability Management is collaborating with faculty, students in the Sustainability Club, and faculty and students from the CIT Learning Community seminar course "IT Problem Solving" to create BHCC’s first E-Waste event! All electronic devices that are donated during the event will benefit cancer patients, clinics and cancer research.
Student Sustainability Expo
October 25, 2012 @ 1-2:15pm in D- Lounge
The student Sustainability Club is collaborating with Alpha Kappa Mu and the Office of Sustainability Management on this special event that will feature topics such as sustainable food, the new sustainability certificate program, and health issues associated with toxic chemicals that can leach from plastic bottles. Participants will enjoy games, music, video displays, and give-a-ways.
