The University of North Florida will be holding its sixth annual Garbage on the Green event on Campus Sustainability Day - October 24, 2012. The university-sponsored event is aimed at educating students, faculty and staff about ways to reduce campus trash through recycling, litter-prevention practices and other environmental issues. The program was initiated by Stacy E. Wheeler in March 8, 2007 with the purpose of identifying the types and sources of materials in UNF's solid waste stream.

The event kicks off at 7:30 with a cleanup of campus litter. The mid-day waste/recycling audit allows volunteers to get down and dirty by auditing, recording and categorizing waste. Enjoy entertainment, free food, free t-shirts and information from various local environmental organizations.
