Call for Case Studies on Greening Collegiate Athletics and Recreation

We are pleased to announce a great opportunity to get recognition for your success stories in athletics and recreation. AASHE is collaborating with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Green Sports Alliance to publicize case studies in greening campus sports. ***Please share your success stories! *** Stories are being accepted through March 1, 2013.

Your experience and insights implementing renewable energy initiatives, zero-waste programs, green building upgrades, etc. will help other schools move forward with their own initiatives. To get the word out across our networks, we will promote your case studies in the following ways:

• All initiatives will be featured on the Green Sports Alliance and NRDC websites
• Selected initiatives will be included in an NRDC Game Changer Report highlighting leading collegiate sports greening examples (NRDC’s first Game Changer Report focused on professional sports).
• Selected initiatives will be referenced in an upcoming AASHE how-to guide on Creating a Culture of Sustainability in Collegiate Athletics (part of AASHE’s new How-to Guide series).

Through this collaborative effort, we hope colleges and universities can better integrate athletics and recreation into their overall campus sustainability efforts, as there is enormous potential here to reduce an institution’s greenhouse gas emissions and ecological footprint in socially just and economically sound ways.

Thank you for your time and commitment to sustainability. We wish you many sustainability successes in 2013!
